Our Summer Associate Program

The Minneapolis office takes great pride in having a summer program that combines realistic work experience, advanced professional development, and social activities that highlight the best of the Twin Cities. Over the course of 10 weeks, our summer associates rotate through three practice groups of their own choosing. In addition to gaining hands-on work experience, our summer associates have the opportunity to attend client meetings, depositions, closings, and court appearances. Furthermore, we strongly encourage our summer associates to attend training seminars specifically tailored to enhance their professional development and the Continuing Legal Education presentations provided to Dorsey attorneys.

As part of Dorsey’s commitment to pro bono work and our community, our summer associates are involved in a variety of pro bono cases of their choosing. Examples of pro bono work performed by summer associates include: representing low income persons in housing court, representing those seeking orders for protection in cases of domestic abuse, attending legal clinics, and assisting with political asylum matters.

The summer is not all work though; we host a variety of social activities that enables our summer associates to get to know and form lasting relationships with their associate and partner mentors, the Recruiting Committee, the Firm’s attorneys, and their fellow summer associates.  Meet our Recruiting Committee below!
