The Escalating Challenges of Remote Work

When offices closed their doors at the beginning of the pandemic, employees quickly adapted to remote work and many employers learned that it was feasible to sustain a remote workforce. Employers that choose to allow employees to work remotely in other states must consider things like state-specific employment laws, benefits questions, taxation issues, and corporate registration requirements. This panel will survey those considerations and provide guidance regarding the best states for remote workers and those states employers might choose to avoid.

Back to Basics 2022, Part 1 – Identifying Your Employment Risks In the Post-Pandemic Workplace

The phrase “new normal” is as overused as it is accurate. With COVID-19 subsiding in its day-to-day impact on employers’ operations, human resources and employment law professionals are returning their attention to workplace issues and risks that have always faced and continue to face employers. This panel will focus on identifying and mitigating risks in the post-pandemic workplace, and discuss current trends and agency enforcement priorities.

Back to Basics 2022, Part 2 – HR Best Practices in a Cooling Economy

Employers have been engaged in a war for talent for years. By all accounts, that battle rages. At the same time, various economic signs point to a cooling economy, which could have major implications for employers. Prudent employers will think ahead to when the pendulum swings, even as they strive to attract and retain talent, emphasizing the importance of performance management, clear documentation, and cautious terminations, possibly even larger scale reductions in force. This panel will focus on HR best practices for employers in this shifting economy.
