In a Reuters wire story, Dorsey partner and co-chair of the Product Liability group Chip Magid reacted to the latest recall announcement by toy manufacturer Mattel. The company recently announced the recall of 18.2 million magnetic toys worldwide, following a 1.5 million preschool toy recall involving potential lead paint contamination earlier this month.

Magid said that while lawsuits related to the various recalls were possible, he doubted they would lead to much. "Unless someone can say that a specific child suffered lead poisoning and they can trace it to that particular toy, it is going to be hard really to bring a claim." He further suggested that the magnetic parts recall was a "fairly common" type of toy recall and unlikely to have broader implications.
