Dorsey & Whitney’s Shanghai Office Managing Partner, Peter Corne, was a guest speaker at the virtual event “Land and Grow: Agri-Tech Opportunities in China”, held by Agricultural Engineering Precision Innovation (Agri-EPI) Centre on August 11, 2021.
Peter’s speech entitled “Key Governance for China – IP, Equity & Exit Protection”, introduced key challenges facing foreign agri-tech companies entering China. He discussed IP protection strategies, investment structure, exit planning, and referenced a biofertiliser project on which he is engaged. The speech received a lot of positive feedback from the audience.
This event is one in a series of webinars designed to introduce UK agri-tech innovators to the wealth of opportunities available in China, so that they can better understand the Chinese agriculture sector and connect with other players in the China agri-tech ecosystem. Other speakers were from the British Embassy Beijing, agri-tech platform behemoth Pinduoduo, and investment consultancy 8 Hours Ahead which made this event a lively and spirited session.
Qualified to practice in England & Wales, Hong Kong and Australia, Peter helps lead Dorsey & Whitney’s mainland China offices from his base in Shanghai. Peter has assisted many foreign clients in the food and beverage industry in China such as Coca-Cola, Tate & Lyle and Ornua. He specializes in the area of Chinese corporate, commercial and regulatory practice and associated dispute resolution, with a focus on climate change law and practice, and is Co-Head of the Firm’s Sustainability Practice Group. Peter is also recognized as a leading practitioner in the field of mediation and arbitration and is on the panels of 12 arbitration and mediation institutes around the region. He brings a wide breadth of experience to his roles as Managing Partner of Dorsey’s Shanghai office, and Co-Head of the Firm’s U.S.-China Practice Group.
