SHANGHAI (October 20, 2003) – Corporate and M&A lawyer H. Richard Yao joined the international law firm of Dorsey & Whitney LLP as a senior lawyer in its China Practice Group. He will be based in the Shanghai office, from which he will continue his corporate and M&A practice in China.
“We are experiencing heavy client demands for M&A activities in China and we want to meet such demands by hiring the top talent from the market in China. Richard will be a real asset to us given his long-time experience in China in representing multinational corporations in their investment and acquisition activities in China,” said Z. Alex Zhang, the head of the Greater China Practice and Co-chair of the Firm’s Asia Practice Group.
Before joining Dorsey, Richard Yao practiced at the Shanghai office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, advising multinational companies on a wide variety of corporate, commercial and M&A activities in China. Richard earned law degrees from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law and the East China Institute of Political Science and Law. During the past decade, Richard practiced both in international law firms and also occupied in-house positions with multinational corporations.
