International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP is pleased to announce that partner Michael Lindsay was named Executive Committee Chair of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives’ (NCFC) Legal, Tax & Accounting (LTA) Committee. Founded in 1929, NCFC is the voice of farmer cooperatives throughout the United States. The LTA includes approximately 200 attorneys, tax directors, accountants, and other advisors to farmer cooperatives who are appointed to the LTA by NCFC members.
“I am honored to be named to the chair position,” Lindsay said. “Farmer-owned and farmer-governed cooperatives are an important component of the agricultural economy, and it is a privilege to work with them.” Lindsay previously served as chair of the LTA’s Antitrust Subcommittee.
Dorsey has more than 35 years of experience working with local and regional agricultural cooperatives, rural electric cooperatives, purchasing cooperatives, consumer cooperatives, worker cooperatives and start-up organizations across the nation. The Firm’s Cooperative Law Practice serves industries such as agriculture, energy and utilities, purchasing, consumer, housing, professional services and healthcare. Dorsey also represents other agriculture-related organizations such as commodity promotion groups, cooperative banks and cooperative trade associations.
For more than 20 years, Dorsey has been involved with the NCFC and in addition to serving on the LTA, Dorsey attorneys have chaired or are members of multiple subcommittees, including antitrust, cooperative structures, environmental laws and regulations, and litigation between cooperatives and their members.
