International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Cate Heaven Young has joined the Firm as a Partner in the Corporate Group in Minneapolis on August 16. Cate represents clients in private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and serves as an outside general counsel.

Cate joins Dorsey from Jostens, Inc., where she served as the General Counsel.  Jostens, Inc. is a Platinum Equity portfolio company that is a leading provider of yearbooks, graduation regalia, and class and championship jewelry in the K-12 educational, college and professional sports segments.

Prior to joining Jostens, Cate was a partner at a large law firm in Minneapolis. Her practice focused on mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, assisting entrepreneurs with business formation and strategic planning, and corporate governance and compliance matters. Cate has also previously served as the General Counsel of two publicly traded companies in the medical device and franchise industries, where she had a multi-disciplinary focus including legal strategy, risk management and public company reporting and compliance.
