Having assumed control over the CFPB, Director Kraninger has significantly altered the regulation and enforcement priorities at the CFPB. However, although the aggressive posture encouraged by former Director Cordray has been modified, the CFPB is continuing to pursue numerous supervisory and enforcement goals under its new leadership.

This session of the Roundtable reviewed the modifications to the CFPB’s processes made by Director Kraninger, as well as what remains intact. Presenters will analyze the CFPB’s recent proposed regulatory initiatives (e.g., to implement the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), enforcement priorities and the CFPB’s announced regulatory agenda. In addition, alternatives to resolve the constitutionality of the CFPB will be reviewed, with the panelists providing their predictions of the outcome.
