Our client, the nonprofit Nurse-Family Partnership, pairs a low-income, first-time mom with a nurse to support her in having a healthy pregnancy and giving her baby the best possible start in life. We helped Nurse-Family Partnership’s groundbreaking expansion by negotiating and finalizing the first maternal and child health pay-for-success agreement in South Carolina that serves as the centerpiece of the financing program among Nurse-Family Partnership, South Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services and The Children’s Trust Fund of South Carolina. Pay for Success uses upfront private capital to expand effective social services and government only pays for the program when measured outcomes are achieved. This new funding will expand Nurse-Family Partnership to serve an additional 3,200 first-time mothers and their children in South Carolina. Nurse-Family Partnership also serves low-income families in 42 additional states, the U.S. Virgin Islands and six Tribal communities.
