Al brings an AI-enabled approach to patent prosecution, combining frontier technology with seasoned legal judgment to deliver efficient, cost-effective results.
Al works with clients to develop and implement patent strategies that align with corporate objectives, supporting growth initiatives, financing efforts, and successful exits, including initial public offerings and acquisitions. Based in Silicon Valley, Al brings a practical, business-focused approach informed by experience working with technology companies, startups, and investors. He has been recognized in the IAM Patent 1000 for his work advising clients on patent strategy and portfolio development.
He advises on building, managing, and optimizing patent portfolios across a broad range of emerging and frontier technologies, with particular depth in wireless communications, artificial intelligence, and energy innovation.
Al leverages his technical foundation and strategic perspective to advise clients on IP valuation, licensing, and portfolio monetization, helping them unlock value from their intellectual property at critical inflection points like fundraising, M&A, and partnerships, including advising technology companies whose business models are built on patented innovation. Al performs in-depth technical investigations related to patent assertions and develops strategic positions, whether evaluating infringement and validity risks or supporting clients’ own assertion and licensing strategies.
Before practicing law, Al gained engineering experience in the defense industry, working on energy system modeling and communications circuitry design. He also conducted biomedical research, with findings published in peer-reviewed journals.
Al also provides pro bono representation to children and individuals in immigration proceedings, including asylum and naturalization matters.
