Peggy Hunt, a partner in the Salt Lake City office of Dorsey & Whitney LLP, was honored by the Utah Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) as a recipient of the 2019 Distinguished Service Award. 

Presented on November 20, 2019, the Award typically is given to lawyers who have a career of distinguished service in the federal court system; made significant contributions to the practice of federal law; and exhibited the highest standards of civility, professionalism, and public service. 

Ms. Hunt has been working in the area of bankruptcy and receivership law for more than 25 years. She co-chairs Dorsey’s Bankruptcy Practice Group and is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy. She serves as a trustee and receiver, and she has represented fiduciaries, distressed companies, banks and creditors, and equity holders in all aspects of the workout, restructuring, and liquidating process. 

Ms. Hunt serves on numerous professional and civic boards. Among others, Governor Gary Herbert has appointed Ms. Hunt as a Commissioner on the Utah Securities Commission and she serves as President of the Advisory Board for the Natural History Museum of Utah. Ms. Hunt is also a member of the Board of the Utah Bar Foundation., and over the years has served in numerous capacities for the FBA, including as President of the Utah Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

Ms. Hunt is passionate about advancing the status of women and girls in Utah. She co-founded the Utah Women’s Giving Circle of the Community Foundation of Utah and is a former President of Women Lawyers of Utah and of the Utah Women’s Forum.
