International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Mike Drysdale, Of Counsel in the Firm’s Regulatory Affairs and Trial Groups, has received the 2014 Planned Parenthood Advocate Award from Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS). He was honored at the Women Voters Rising fall fundraiser on September 16, 2014.

Since 2005, Mr. Drysdale has donated countless pro bono hours working to stop laws passed by the South Dakota legislature—undermining access to health care for women. As the leader of Planned Parenthood’s SD litigation team, he has been an advocate for the women and families of South Dakota and a true Planned Parenthood champion. Mr. Drysdale serves on the board of directors for PPMNS, as well as the Action Fund.

“Community is a Dorsey core value, and pro bono work is one of the most important ways we give back to the community,” said Ken Cutler, Managing Partner of Dorsey & Whitney. “Mike’s long-standing commitment and passion to help defend and increase access to family planning services in our communities exemplifies that core value. We are extremely proud of his achievements and of this recognition.”

In 2013, Dorsey lawyers devoted more than 30,000 hours in total to pro bono projects. The Firm was an original signatory of the 1993 ABA Pro Bono Challenge and has met the Challenge every year since then by devoting more than three percent of billable hours to pro bono services.
