International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP is pleased to announce that its recruiting efforts have resulted in six new hires in its New York office this year. The hires augment established practice areas and add to the office’s talented group of lawyers.

Dorsey also is pleased that its recruiting efforts, along with its commitment to the Mansfield Rule and current participation in Mansfield 2.0, have enhanced the diversity complement of the New York office. Today, lawyers of color make up 20%, and women lawyers make up 37%, of the office’s lawyers.  Dorsey also was of one of 27 law firms to achieve Mansfield Certification Plus in 2018 during the inaugural year of the Mansfield Rule pilot.

Hires in 2019 include Partners Ed Davis and Shevon Rockett, Counsel Anthony Badaracco, associates Lucy Onyeforo and Cannelle Trouillot and international law clerk Helen Jiang.

Ed Davis is a Partner in the Firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice group. Ed focuses on representing financial institutions, private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, venture capital funds, alternative asset managers, finance companies and strategic corporate clients in connection with complex commercial transactions. Shevon Rockett joined the Firm as a Partner in the Products Liability practice group. Ms. Rockett’s practice focuses primarily on the defense of pharmaceutical, medical device, and other companies in complex commercial litigation matters. Anthony Badaracco joined Dorsey as Of Counsel in the Commercial Litigation practice group. His practice focuses on antitrust, commercial litigation and government enforcement matters.

Lucy Onyeforo joined the Firm as an Associate in the Trial group. Lucy began her law career in 2007 in London, while concurrently pursuing a full-time international athletics career as a 100-meter sprinter and a member of Great Britain’s bobsleigh team. In London, she worked on various high profile, cross-border litigation and arbitration cases, and also managed large scale e-discovery projects. Cannelle Trouillot is an associate in the Firm’s Corporate group. Ms. Trouillot advises clients on a wide range of complex business transactions, including stock and asset acquisitions, capital raising and initial public offerings, debt and equity restructurings, and investments in derivatives.

Helen Jiang joined the Firm as a law clerk in the Trial group. Helen is bi-lingual in Chinese and English and is part of the Firm’s award-winning U.S.-China practice group. Prior to joining Dorsey, Ms. Jiang worked in the international arbitration group of a Legal 500 law firm based in London. She has also served as an extern in the World Bank International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes, and as a scholar in Hong Kong International Arbitration Center.

Dorsey’s New York Office Head Sandra Edelman noted, “Our recruiting efforts have built on many of the core strengths of Dorsey’s New York office. We’ve added some incredible talent serving key industries, and further strengthened our focus on cross-border, international business activity.” Ms. Edelman practices in Dorsey’s Trademark, Copyright, Advertising & Brand Management group. Named Office Head in April 2019, Ms. Edelman is the first woman to serve as Office Head for the Firm’s New York office. She has held a number of previous leadership positions at Dorsey, including service on the Firm’s worldwide Management Committee and as head of the Firm’s Trademark Practice Group.
