Jay Madrid

International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Jay J. Madrid has joined the Firm’s Trial Group in Dallas as Of Counsel.

Mr. Madrid is a litigator with decades of experience representing banks, real estate developers, trustees and executors, majority and minority shareholders, directors and officers and small business owners in a wide variety of commercial disputes in federal and state courts throughout the United States. He has worked extensively in the pharmaceutical, financial, real estate, health care, environmental and corporate worlds and industries. Over his long career, he has had extensive experience in all stages of litigation, including both trial and appellate, as well as litigation in administrative settings and all types of alternative dispute resolution.

Mr. Madrid joins Dorsey from Winstead PC where he was a shareholder in the Dallas office and served as Co-Chair of the Fiduciary Litigation practice and previously served as head of the Litigation Section, a member of that firm’s Management and Compensation Committees, as well as head of its Litigation and Dispute Department.

He has a B.A. degree from Texas Western College, a J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law and an M.L.A. degree from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Madrid is a Civil Trial Law specialist certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been recognized by Texas Super Lawyers, 2003-2016 (Thomson Reuters) and Best Lawyers in America (Woodward White Inc.), 2005-2017, and as a top 100 lawyers in Texas, Texas Super Lawyers, 2003-2012.
