International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Guanxi Zheng has rejoined the Firm as Of Counsel in the Firm’s Corporate Group in Dorsey’s Seattle office.

Mr. Zheng was an associate and partner in Dorsey’s Hong Kong office from 2000 to 2006, with a practice covering a wide-range of corporate transactional work including M&A, joint ventures, technology licensing, corporate finance and structured acquisition of non-performing loans. In 2006, he became Director, Vice President and General Counsel at DAC Financial Management (China) Ltd., in Hong Kong and Beijing, where he was responsible for due diligence, contract negotiations and portfolio management for the private equity fund’s investments all across China, including work-out of distressed loans purchased in packages from large state-owned enterprises.

Mr. Zheng is a native of Fujian Province, China. He attended Southwest Law School in Chongqing, China, graduating with his LL.B. degree and attended Vrije University in Brussels, Belgium, taking his first LL.M. degree in European Union law. He moved to Canada, obtaining his LL.M. and his LL.B. degrees. After Mr. Zheng was admitted to the Alberta bar he initially worked in Canada at the firm of Fraser Milner. He left Canada to join the Stikeman Elliott Hong Kong office and became a member of the Hong Kong bar before joining Dorsey in 2000.
