On Wednesday, February 13, Dorsey celebrated the Year of the Pig and hosted its annual Chinese New Year event at the Harvard Club. It was the sixth year in a row that we hosted our gala, and like all the years before, it was well-attended, filling the venue to capacity. Those in attendance included representatives from the Chinese Consulate, the China Institute, the China General Chamber of Commerce – USA and some of China's largest commercial banks and companies.

The guests first mingled over cocktails, then sat for a three-course dinner. During the dinner, the guests enjoyed opening remarks from New York’s Regional Director, Michelle Doran, warm words from Consul Jijun Xing from the Chinese Consulate, a presentation by New York Partner and Co-Chair of the US-China Practice Group Catherine Pan, and an after-dinner speech by our other Co-Chair, Lanier Saperstein.

Lively entertainment came in the form of a Peking Opera performance and then, at the end of the dinner, a team of lion dancers who collected traditional red envelopes and tossed gold chocolate coins around the room, to symbolize good fortune and wealth.
