International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Attorneys Erica Larson and Samir Islam have been elected to positions on the Minnesota State Bar Association Communications Section Council. Mr. Islam was elected as a Council Member and Ms. Larson was elected Vice-Chair.

In Ms. Larson’s telecommunications practice, she assists companies to comply with federal licensing and privacy requirements. Ms. Larson gained experience in telecommunications regulation when, as a law student, she interned for the Federal Communications Commission’s Wireline Competition Bureau.

Mr. Islam is an attorney in the Regulatory Affairs practice group. His practice focuses on telecommunications, including FCC licensing laws, international authorization applications and domestic transfer of control filings, and USAC contribution filings; privacy law, including cybersecurity; and environmental law.

Founded in 1883, the Minnesota State Bar Association is the oldest professional association for attorneys in Minnesota. The Communications Council advances the knowledge of Minnesota lawyers and other interested persons as to legal issues faced by users, providers, and regulators of telecommunications and broadcast services, facilities, and equipment.
