Bryan litigates and arbitrates construction disputes, insurance coverage battles, and reinsurance broker claims so that owners, contractors, and brokers can resolve high-stakes conflicts and move forward with confidence.
Bryan brings that full-spectrum capability to bear across state and federal courts and major arbitration forums — including the American Arbitration Association (AAA) — guiding clients from case inception through final resolution. He represents owners, developers, general contractors, and subcontractors in construction and design disputes, whether those matters proceed before the AAA, in court, or through pre-dispute resolution proceedings. Bryan is co-author of the Minnesota and South Dakota chapters of the State-by-State Guide to Design and Construction Contracts and Claims (Third Edition, 2023, and 2024 and 2025 annual supplements).
Bryan's construction practice extends into construction-related insurance, where he advises and litigates on behalf of owners, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in matters involving builders' risk, property, general liability — including owner-controlled insurance programs (OCIPs), contractor-controlled insurance programs (CCIPs), and other wrap insurance — and professional liability policies. For policyholder clients, he helps assess which policies respond to a claim, tenders claims to insurers, negotiates defense and reimbursement obligations, coordinates coverage across multiple policies, and litigates coverage disputes when necessary. He has also represented primary and excess insurers in coverage disputes with policyholders and other insurers. Bryan is the co-author of Chapter 8: Builder's Risk Insurance in the American Bar Association's Construction Insurance: A Guide for Attorneys and Other Professionals (2nd Ed. 2026).
Beyond construction, Bryan defends and advises insurance brokers and reinsurance broker intermediaries in a wide variety of matters, including contract and tort disputes (including professional negligence claims), with matters litigated across multiple state and federal jurisdictions.
Bryan's commercial litigation practice also reaches into the financial services and securities industries, where he represents broker-dealers in FINRA customer arbitrations and publicly traded companies and their officers and directors in shareholder class action lawsuits before district and appellate courts. He has also defended clients in data breach proceedings.
Bryan is an author of the Cyber Insurance chapter of the 2023 Minnesota Insurance Law Deskbook (chapter update forthcoming in 2027) and is a frequent contributor and presenter for Minnesota CLE's In-House Counsel program.
Bryan is committed to pro bono service. He participates in the Volunteer Lawyer Network's criminal expungement program, represents nonprofit organizations in litigation and construction matters, and advises nonprofits on transaction and governance issues.
