The Minnesota CLE, a nonprofit division of the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA), recently published a deskbook on business torts. The text provides a current, practical and accessible summary of the law of business torts in Minnesota. In the "Credit and Collection" chapter, Dorsey partner Seth Leventhal reviews "tort-like" (i.e., "extra-contractual") liability risks attendant in credit transactions. He focuses in particular on statutory liability under Minnesota and federal law, including the Truth-in-Lending Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Minnesota usury law.

The "Minnesota Business Torts Deskbook" will soon be available for purchase at the Minnesota CLE web site. See here for details.
