International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced that it has launched a Cybersecurity Practice Group with Phoenix Partner Seth Goertz as the group’s Chair.

Practice Group Chair Seth Goertz joined Dorsey in 2024 from the United States Department of Justice, where he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney focused on financial crimes and cyberfraud, including matters such as computer hacking, money laundering, bribery, and other complex cyberfraud schemes. His unique background and extensive experience leading high-profile matters for the Department of Justice, particularly involving cybercrimes and cybersecurity, provides a needed edge in a world of rapidly evolving cyberthreats.

“I am excited to continue the growth of Dorsey’s cybersecurity practice, with an outstanding team that is uniquely situated to guide our clients through sophisticated, and often messy, situations,” said Seth Goertz. “I also look forward to leveraging my experience at the DOJ — particularly directing the District of Arizona’s Darknet and Digital Crimes Task Force — to serve Dorsey’s broad client base.”

Dorsey’s multi-disciplinary Cybersecurity Practice Group is comprised of attorneys from across the globe and includes former Department of Justice cyberfraud prosecutors, attorneys with expertise in IT security systems, and attorneys versed in cybersecurity from the perspective of corporate and regulatory compliance, intellectual property, the healthcare industry, and FinTech. All of this is supplemented by Dorsey’s broad bench of data privacy and cyber insurance attorneys, who provide guidance across related industry sectors. Areas of coverage include cybersecurity preparedness, regulatory enforcement matters, response to data breaches, and   counseling on confidential information and trade secrets in the cyber context.
