Dorsey & Whitney LLP is proud to announce the release of the second edition of US Business Litigation Risks: A Comprehensive Handbook for Business Owners and the Attorneys Who Advise Them, written by Dorsey Partner Kent Schmidt.
Drawing on more than 25 years of experience defending companies in nearly every type of commercial litigation, Kent applies a “lessons-learned” approach to offer a practical framework for identifying and reducing litigation risks in the United States. First published in 2021, US Business Litigation Risks has become a go-to reference for attorneys, executives, and risk professionals navigating the legal landscape of doing business in the U.S.
The second edition features timely updates on litigation trends, new United States regulations, and emerging public policies, particularly around ESG-driven lawsuits, privacy litigation, enhanced consumer disclosure requirements, and changing employee liabilities.
“I am gratified by Dorsey’s support for this effort, from the first edition to this updated release,” said Kent. “Going back even further in time, countless partners, mentors and other colleagues have provided guidance and insights well over two decades, making this work possible.”
Kent litigates all types of commercial disputes, in addition to conducting internal investigations and litigating First Amendment free speech issues. Kent also hosts SharkCast, a podcast focusing on the changing US litigation risks and how companies can navigate and reduce potential lawsuits.
US Business Litigation Risks: A Comprehensive Handbook for Business Owners and the Attorneys Who Advise Them, Second Edition is available from Globe Law and Business or through all major book retailers. An Italian adaptation of the book, Come Prevenire e Mitigare i Rischi di Contenzioso Negli USA, has also been released. It is a collaboration between Kent and five-Italy-based co-authors explaining how Italian-based companies can address US litigation risks.
