International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that its Hong Kong office has received the Hong Kong Council of Social Service’s Caring Company award in recognition of the Firm’s commitment to caring for community, employees and the environment.

At Dorsey, community is a core value. Dorsey lawyers and staff honor a long legal tradition of using their abilities and resources for the benefit of others, whether it is helping the underprivileged gain access to the legal system through pro bono work, providing financial support to charitable organisations or devoting personal time in volunteer service. Whenever possible, Dorsey lawyers and staff partner with clients to serve our communities together.

“Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is what makes a better society and it is a way to pave a sustainable and harmonious future for our children. Dorsey brings unique input to the local and global CSR community. We are pleased that we have received the Caring Company recognition, as a result of our local charities and CSR initiatives,” noted Dorsey Partner Simon Chan.

Dorsey people take a personal interest in the vitality of communities around the globe where the Firm has offices, and the Firm’s community involvement program supports individual commitments to community service and leadership. The Firm organises and mobilises Dorsey attorneys and staff, connecting them to volunteer opportunities and supporting their efforts.

Launched by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) in 2002, the Caring Company Scheme (caringcompany.org.hk) aims at cultivating good corporate citizenship with the mission of building a cohesive society by promoting strategic partnerships among business and social service partners and inspiring corporate social responsibility through caring for the community, employees and the environment. Awards are presented each year to recognise organisations with outstanding involvement in corporate social responsibility programmes.
