International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP is pleased to announce that Roy Ginsburg, a Partner in the Firm’s Minneapolis office, has been named an Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer. This is the second time that Ginsburg has been chosen for this prestigious honor—the first time was in 2006.

“We are very proud of Roy for being selected to receive this well-deserved honor,” said Richard H. Silberberg, Head of Dorsey’s Global Advocacy Practice. “He is an excellent lawyer, and his tireless commitment to Dorsey’s clients sets the bar for the rest of the firm’s litigators. The fact that this is his second time receiving this award speaks volumes of his abilities.”

Ginsburg was selected for the award largely because of his work on behalf of Revis Stephenson, III, in a dispute between Stephenson and the Board of Directors of Advanced BioEnergy LLC (ABE), an ethanol company that Stephenson founded. Stephenson hired Ginsburg after the Board unfairly squeezed Stephenson out of his position as Chairman and CEO of ABE. After a 15-day AAA arbitration involving claims of breach of contract and defamation, followed by a separate mediation involving the issue of attorneys’ fees, Ginsburg helped Stephenson walk away from ABE with a $4 million award.

Mr. Ginsburg noted, ““This case was a true team effort among David Trevor, Marilyn Clark and me. Our top priority throughout the case was to ensure that our client, Revis Stephenson, was both vindicated and compensated for his wrongful removal as Chairman of the Board and CEO. Fortunately, we succeeded in both respects. The receipt of this award, on top of the case outcome, is a humbling bonus. I am honored.”

Twenty-five attorneys were named Attorneys of the Year in 2011. The honorees were chosen based on a number of criteria, including leadership in the profession, involvement in major cases or other newsworthy events, excellence in corporate or transactional services, and public service. They will be honored at an awards ceremony on February 23, 2012.
