MINNEAPOLIS (Feb. 13, 2007) – Global law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP has named partner L. Joseph Genereux to lead the firm’s Minneapolis office. He succeeds Thomas Tinkham, who has been named chief administrative partner. Both positions report to Managing Partner Marianne Short.
Genereux recently completed a two-year term as deputy managing partner. He also has led the firm’s Banking and Commercial practice and the Financial Services group. He is a member of the national Advisory Committee to the Law Firm Pro Bono Project, past-president of the board of directors of the Legal Aid Society of Minneapolis, and a founder and president of LegalCORPS, a non-profit which specializes in placing transactional pro bono matters with volunteer lawyers. Genereux was the 2005 recipient of the National Public Service Award by the American Bar Association Business Law Section Committee on Pro Bono.

Genereux received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, a Master of Science in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and his B.A. from Grinnell College.
