To avoid spectacles such as the recent partisan Wisconsin Supreme Court election, a constitutional amendment is being proposed in Minnesota to preserve our impartial courts and improve the process for the selection and retention of judges.
The Coalition for Impartial Justice (CIJ) is the group organized to seek adoption of the constitutional amendment. The CIJ has assembled a distinguished panel to provide perspectives from the judiciary, the legislature and the business world on the current system and the proposed legislation, which would place a constitutional amendment on the Minnesota ballot in 2012 providing for:
- evaluations of judges by an impartial judicial performance commission;
- retention election of judges; and
- expanding merit selection for the entire judiciary.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn about preserving a fair and impartial judiciary in Minnesota.
