International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP is pleased to announce several enhancements to its parental leave policy for benefits-eligible attorneys and support staff to provide additional time off for parents following a birth or adoption.

The new policy increases parental leave for all U.S. and Canadian attorneys to 10 weeks and support staff to eight weeks of paid parental leave in addition to any applicable short-term disability leave for childbirth. Paid parental leave benefits are prorated during an individual’s first year of employment.

“We are pleased to offer the additional time off to our support staff and their growing families,” said Dorsey Managing Partner Bill Stoeri. “Dorsey is committed to being a place where all are valued and able to have a balanced family life with exceptional benefits. The change is one example of the Firm’s efforts to recruit and retain the best talent.”

The new policy is effective January 1, 2019, and applies to all U.S. and Canadian paid employees.
