Please join us for a special afternoon with Walter F. Mondale, the 42nd Vice President of the United States and Professor Lawrence Jacobs, the Walter F. Mondale Chair for Political Studies and Director of the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance in the Hubert H. Humphrey School and the Department of Political Science at the University of Minnesota.

Throughout his career, Mr. Mondale has worked to uphold and advance the political, economic and social rights of women. He broke a 175 year-old barrier during the 1984 election by selecting Geraldine Ferraro as his Vice Presidential candidate. His selection of Representative Ferraro continued his long career advancing civil rights including his co-sponsorship of the Equal Rights Amendment.

Please join us for a discussion about the challenges Vice President Mondale faced in selecting Representative Ferraro as his running mate and the progress – and setbacks – that women experience today.

Mr. Mondale is best known for his public service as Vice President of the United States. He also served as U.S. Ambassador to Japan, U.S. Senator, and Democratic candidate for President.
