Abby advises companies, banks, and investment funds on financing transactions in the United States and across borders, bringing experience on both the lender and borrower sides and a background in international law firms and investment banking.
Abby is a partner in Dorsey's Finance and Restructuring Group based in Minneapolis. Her practice encompasses corporate lending, leveraged and acquisition financing, employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) financing and refinancing, small business investment company (SBIC) lending, cross-border financing, and receivables financing. She also structures and negotiates over-the-counter derivatives, including interest rate, foreign exchange, and commodity hedges.
Abby represents agent banks, borrowers, mezzanine funds, and institutional investors. On the lender side, she regularly represents agent banks in syndicated senior secured credit facilities for acquisitions and other business needs across industries, including asset management, electrical engineering and construction, consumer finance, and manufacturing. On the borrower side, she has represented utility companies, multinational food companies, clean energy developers, and private equity funds and their portfolio companies in secured and unsecured credit facilities, note issuances, and letter of credit facilities. Her experience on both sides informs her approach to negotiating lender protections and the flexibility businesses need to operate and grow.
Abby has particular depth in cross-border transactions involving the Chinese market. She advises Chinese banks operating through their U.S. branches, offshore subsidiaries of Chinese real estate companies, Chinese asset management companies, and other Chinese market participants on term loans, inventory financing, bridge loans, and receivables financing involving counterparties and assets in the United States, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and elsewhere.
Before joining Dorsey, Abby spent more than five years as an international trade analyst and associate at a major Wall Street-based law firm, working in both New York and Beijing. She also gained experience at the Hong Kong office of a U.K. Magic Circle law firm and the Hong Kong office of a Paris-based investment bank. A native Mandarin speaker, Abby brings more than a decade of experience advising leading international companies on legal compliance issues across jurisdictions.
Abby has been named a Minnesota Super Lawyers Rising Star in the Women's Edition (2025) and a Top Lawyer in Banking and Financial Service Law by Minnesota Monthly (2024). She has contributed more than 50 Diversity and Inclusion hours from 2021 through 2024 and was selected as a 2024 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD).
