Daniel J. Brown

Dan has been a member of Dorsey’s commercial litigation group for more than 25 years. Dan has litigated and arbitrated a wide variety of cases, including in Minnesota, New York, Alaska, Texas, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and even before the Permanent Court of Arbitration for the United Nations.

Among Dan’s specialties, he has provided legal advice to policyholders for more than two decades, assisting in placing insurance, analyzing coverage, negotiating resolutions with insurers, and litigating and arbitrating coverage disputes. Dan has dealt with essentially existing type of every type of commercial policy and takes pride in maximizing policy returns with cost-effective strategies that receive results.

When Dan is not focusing on insurance, Dan also specializes in litigation and arbitration in commercial (UCC) settings, agricultural industry agreements and disputes, international M&A workout disputes, as well as a full-service general litigation practice.

Dan prides himself in being a forceful and aggressive litigator, and is included in the publication of Best Lawyers in America 2026 edition for commercial litigation and insurance litigation.
