Overview

Monica’s commitment to strategic problem-solving and advocacy helps her clients navigate complex legal disputes successfully.

As an associate in Dorsey’s Commercial Litigation practice group, Monica represents clients in a variety of complex commercial disputes involving business torts, breaches of contracts, and fraud claims in state and federal courts. Her clients include individuals, small business, and large corporations spanning a wide range of industries, such as infrastructure, agribusiness, food and beverage, healthcare and life sciences, and banking and financial institutions. Monica has extensive experience in all stages of litigation, from pre-litigation strategy and discovery through mediation, trial, and appeals. Her expertise informs the strategies she offers her clients to resolve matters effectively.

In addition to commercial disputes, Monica represents clients in employment law matters involving racial and gender discrimination claims, wage claims, and disputes involving noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements.

Representative Experience

  • Represent imaging products company in racial discrimination action brought by former employee.
  • Represent investment fund in arbitration involving claims of racial discrimination and wrongful termination.
  • Secured summary judgment in favor of mining company against its materials supplier in a breach of contract action.
  • Represented chain of urgent care clinics facing claims from creditor during Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
  • Defended product manufacturer in a breach of warranty matter brought by a municipality.
  • Successfully negotiated settlement between a financial advisor and her broker-dealer involving claims of gender discrimination and unpaid commissions.
  • Served on trial team representing commercial real estate broker in breach of contract dispute.
  • Served on trial team successfully representing defendant against breach of nondisclosure and breach of noncompete agreements claims where plaintiff was seeking $41 million in damages.*
  • Successfully defended small business owner against fraud and unjust enrichment claims where plaintiff was seeking over $250,000 in damages.*
  • Successfully negotiated settlement of disputed will contest for a multimillion-dollar estate.*
  • Represented employee of large national media company in wrongful termination arbitration proceeding.*
  • Defended some of the first negligence cases related to COVID-19 exposure in large meatpacking facilities.*
