Overview

As an associate at Dorsey & Whitney, Justen is involved in all aspects of U.S. patent prosecution in electrical, electronics and mechanical fields, including a wide variety of technical areas of expertise including semiconductor and cloud computing technologies. He has practiced in the intellectual property field since 2007, and has experience as an electrical and nuclear engineer.
Justen has deep technological knowledge and experience crafting and executing patent strategies in telecommunication technologies including 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE), 3GPP LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM); WLAN (IEEE 802.11); WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e and 802.16m); Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC); and technology standards for mobile telecommunication, mobile equipment, and home networking; light-emitting diode (LED) and organic LED (OLED) displays; and alternative energy power systems. Justen also worked for three years as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He examined patent applications in the areas of smart grid technologies, solar power/cell systems, semiconductor devices, hybrid and electrical vehicles and power and data transmission systems including Power over Ethernet (PoE), Power Line Communication (PLC) and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
