Phoenix Real Estate Partner Brad Wright provided insight into Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) announcement of a new $100 billion investment in U.S. business, potentially including four new chipmaking factories in Arizona. Brad described the state as “the world’s epicenter for the manufacturing of advanced semiconductor chips” in an AZCentral article.
"TSMC's newly announced commitment of an additional $100 billion will accelerate the already great demand for industrial-flex, logistics parks, R&D campuses, and workforce housing across the north Phoenix and east Phoenix corridors," Brad told the Phoenix Business Journal. He added, "We're seeing Taiwanese investors already positioning for land near TSMC's facilities and along Interstate 10 logistics routes. The market will absorb significant acreage for supplier clustering. Commercial office space for engineering, design, and corporate functions will follow. This is a once-in-a-lifetime, multibillion-dollar real estate event."
Speaking with the Peoria Independent, Brad noted that Peoria, advantageously located along the microchip supply chain and home to Amkor Technology’s $7 billion plant, is a model for how a city positions itself ahead of a wave. “By partnering with the State Land Department, investing in infrastructure, and landing an anchor like Amkor, Peoria created a landing zone for the suppliers and manufacturing that follow TSMC’s expansion. Their investment is precisely why that groundwork matters.”
