The United States Patent & Trademark Office's recently published new rules on the use of AI in patent applications. Minneapolis Partner Jamie Nafziger commented on the guidance to Law 360 as well as AI Business and IP Watchdog.

Jamie stated that the USPTO “earned a round of applause today for its commonsense approach to invention." While the new rules provide much needed guidance for the IP community, some aspects, such as the "significant contribution" test, remain unclear. "Patent examiners will surely have some interesting challenges ahead," Jamie said to Law360's Ryan Davis.
