Annette Jarvis among four recipients of 2013 Distinguished Service Award

International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Annette Jarvis, Partner-in-Charge of Transactions, Firm-wide Management Committee member and Head of Dorsey’s Salt Lake City office, will receive a 2013 Distinguished Service award from the Utah chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) at the annual awards dinner November 13.

In addition to Ms. Jarvis, the Utah chapter of the FBA will recognize Thomas M. Melton of the Securities and Exchange Commission and retired U.S. Immigration Judge William L. Nixon with 2013 Distinguished Service Awards.

The Utah FBA will also posthumously honor Brian M. Barnard of the Utah Legal Clinic.

“The Distinguished Service Award recognizes lawyers and judges who have made significant contributions to the federal law practice and the federal judiciary in Utah over the course of their careers,” said Juliette White, president of the FBA’s Utah chapter. “Each of the four 2013 honorees have had a lasting influence in Utah’s legal community.”

Ms. Jarvis has extensive experience representing financial institutions, debtors, trustees, examiners, creditors' committees, creditors, indenture trustees, equity holders, public bond holders and purchasers of assets in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.

“To say that Annette is a valuable member of the Dorsey team does not do justice to the depth of her expertise and her positive contributions to our firm,” said Dorsey & Whitney Managing Partner Ken Cutler. “During her four years at Dorsey, Annette has contributed mightily and allowed us to grow in all of our national practice areas through her experience and leadership.”

Ms. Jarvis has previously been named one of The Best Lawyers in America in Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law, elected as a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, selected as a Top 100 Mountain States Super Lawyer, and honored as one of Utah's "Legal Elite" by Utah Business Magazine.
