Dorsey lawyers and alumni were among the "100 Most Influential Minnesota Lawyers Of All Time" published by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine. Dorsey senior counsel and former U.S. vice president and U.S. ambassador to Japan Walter Mondale was recognized, as was U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun, who spent 16 years as a tax and trust law specialist at Dorsey & Whitney. Other Dorsey alumni included Dean William Prosser (known to a generation of lawyers for his written works on torts), former Minnesota attorney general Warren Spannaus, and Betty Washburn, the first woman judge in Minnesota. Current Dorsey Managing Partner Marianne Short and Dorsey alumna Amy Klobuchar, U.S. senator, were named runners-up.
