International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Jeff Saunders has rejoined the Firm’s Corporate Group in Minneapolis as Of Counsel.
Mr. Saunders’s practice focuses on corporate finance, M&A and health care law, with a particular emphasis on emerging companies and on working with clients in the health care industry. He is widely recognized in Minnesota’s innovation and venture capital community and has extensive experience across the spectrum of the health care supply chain, from medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers to health care technology and service providers. He also has extensive experience in the information technology sector.
Mr. Saunders rejoins Dorsey from Savvysherpa, Inc., a venture research firm headquartered in the Twin Cities, where he has been a principal since 2014. At Savvysherpa he worked closely with companies in various segments of the health care industry, especially payers, providers, digital health companies, and device and pharmaceutical manufacturers, on the development of new business models and technologies, partnerships and the creation of new companies. He also served in an operational leadership role with a Savvysherpa portfolio company that was acquired by a Fortune 150 company in late 2016.
Before joining Savvysherpa, he was a partner in Dorsey’s Corporate Group in Minneapolis. While at Dorsey, Mr. Saunders was a member of the Firm’s Policy Committee, which serves as its board of directors.
Mr. Saunders has a B.A. degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and a J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. He is board chair for the Penumbra Theatre Company in St. Paul.
“We are delighted that Jeff is returning to Dorsey,” noted Ken Cutler, Managing Partner of Dorsey & Whitney. “Health care is a key industry focus for the Firm, and Jeff has been a creative force in that sector for many years, both in his consulting and in his legal practice. His experience and expertise in digital health and health IT will complement Dorsey’s strong emerging companies, corporate finance and M&A practices in those and other sectors across the Firm’s platform.”
“Jeff’s deep experience and first-hand knowledge of the rapidly growing digital health and health IT segments of the market will help keep Dorsey at the cutting edge of law firms serving the health care industry,” noted Shira Hauschen, who leads Dorsey Health Strategies LLC, a consultancy affiliated with Dorsey which offers a comprehensive array of business advisory and regulatory services to clients in the health industry.
“I am very pleased to be rejoining Dorsey and its great Firm-wide team of corporate and health care lawyers,” added Mr. Saunders. “I look forward to serving Dorsey’s exceptional client base in Minnesota and around the world and to expanding the clients the Firm serves in the health care industry.”
