We welcome back to Dorsey our friend Holly English, author of Gender on Trial: Sexual Stereotypes and Work/Life Balance in the Legal Workplace. Ms. English was past President of the Board of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL), the oldest organization dedicated to women lawyers in the country, and the former editor of the National Association of Women Lawyers Journal. She is a frequent lecturer and engaging panelist on diversity topics as well as a practicing lawyer in New Jersey, concentrating on labor and employment law.

Jim Chosy is General Counsel and Secretary of Piper Jaffray Companies, Inc. Mr. Chosy has served in these roles since joining Piper Jaffray in March 2001, and oversees the firm’s legal, compliance and internal audit functions. From 1995 until joining Piper Jaffray, he was Vice President, Associate General Counsel of U.S. Bancorp. He also served as Assistant Secretary of U.S. Bancorp from 1995 through 2000 and as Secretary in 2000 until his move to Piper Jaffray. Mr. Chosy also previously practiced with Deluxe Corporation and Dorsey & Whitney.
Michael C. Connelly

Michael Connelly is Vice President and General Counsel of Xcel Energy Inc. and is responsible for legal and claims services. Before being named Vice President and General Counsel in 2007, Connelly was Vice President of Human Resources. Before serving as Vice President of Human Resources, he was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. He has been employed by Xcel Energy Inc. or its predecessor since 1990. He currently serves on the board of directors for Twin Cities Housing Development Corporation, The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, Greater Twin Cities United Way, Colorado Campaign for Inclusive Excellence, and Diversity in Practice.
Karen Wilson Thissen

Karen Wilson Thissen is Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Ameriprise Financial. She oversees a number of legal functions, including management of litigation and regulatory matters. Ms. Wilson Thissen joined Ameriprise in 2004. Prior to joining Ameriprise, she was a Partner at Faegre & Benson, specializing in Securities Litigation.

Melissa Raphan is a partner in the Labor and Employment Practice Group, practicing exclusively in the area of employment law. Ms. Raphan represents employers in employment litigation matters including class actions, collective actions, multi-plaintiff actions and single plaintiff cases nationwide and in administrative settings, including state and federal agencies. She counsels employers on a full range of issues (including performance management, selection and termination), designs and delivers training on every aspect of the employment relationship, and is a frequent speaker on employment law topics.
