Milan Vinnola is Of Counsel in the Dorsey Patent Group, where she specializes in patent, chemical, and biotechnology law matters. Milan has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, a M.S. in Engineering and Applied Physics in Biomedicine, and pursued additional graduate studies in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. After working as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office and as a patent law clerk at law firms in Washington, DC, she received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Milan’s practice includes intellectual property counseling, patent procurement, and licensing, as well as involvement in opinion, litigation, interference, and opposition practice. She also works with clients to identify, monitor and assess the infringement risks of third-party patents, and to evaluate patent enforcement strategy. Milan also works closely with corporate and licensing attorneys in license drafting and diligence matters. Milan's IP diligence work includes assessment of the strength and weakness of patent portfolios, evaluation of freedom to operate issues and strategic recommendations for maximizing value of developing patent portfolios.
Milan has been involved in intellectual property counseling in a broad range of technologies including, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices and instrumentation, drug delivery technologies, bioinformatics, organic and inorganic chemical technologies, catalysis and hazardous waste destruction, software, e-commerce, telecommunications, and mechanical arts.
Milan’s practice also involves providing regulatory and compliance counseling to US and multinational pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies. Milan has advised clients regarding the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval process, Hatch-Waxman issues, good manufacturing practices, and labeling and promotion issues.
