Tucker K. Trautman

Mr. Trautman is a partner, head of the Dorsey Denver office, head of the Trial departments in Denver and Montana, and co-head of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group. He practices in the areas of intellectual property litigation, complex commercial litigation, antitrust, securities fraud, and regulatory law.

Mr. Trautman has represented clients in the banking and financial services, health care, technology, telecommunications and energy industries. He has significant experience in the areas of international arbitration and litigation, class actions, construction, creditors' rights and bankruptcy, professional liability, real estate, and trust and fiduciary obligations. Mr. Trautman has also acted as an arbitrator and expert witness in a number of cases.

  • Argued and won two landmark cases in the U.S. Supreme Court
    • Aspen Skiing Co. v. Aspen Highlands Skiing Corp., 472 U.S. 585 (1985) affirming a multi-million dollar jury verdict in a monopolization case
    • Central Bank of Denver, N.A. v. First Interstate Bank of Denver, N.A., 511 U.S. 164 (1994), holding that there was no implied private right of action for aiding and abetting under Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Hear the argument online.
