Summary: Dorsey partner Roy Ginsburg discussed in Employment Law 360 appropriate strategies for managing workforce reductions. These so called Reductions in Force (RIFs) are often accompanied by severance packages and voluntary employee participation programs.
Ginsburg suggests traditional approaches pose a number of potential risks. After reviewing these risks in detail, he provides an alternative checklist of RIF procedures for employers to consider.
