Mike Rasmussen is an associate in the firm’s patent group. His practice focuses on patent preparation, prosecution, opinions, and counseling. He has experience in drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications; analyzing intellectual property portfolios; and preparing freedom to operate, infringement, and invalidity opinions. Mike has patent experience in a variety of technology areas, including mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software arts.
Prior to joining Dorsey & Whitney, Mike was an associate at an intellectual property law firm in Denver, Colorado. In addition, while in law school, Mike prepared and prosecuted patent applications at a multi-national corporation and a patent boutique law firm in the Denver area.
Mike has over 5 years of engineering experience. At Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Mike worked primarily as a structural dynamics engineer. In this role, he analyzed mechanical structures to determine dynamic loads. His tasks included developing analytical models, determining test configurations, participating in acoustic and modal tests, and correlating the analytical models to test data. Further, as a structural dynamics engineer, he performed deployment analysis on various mechanical structures. While at Lockheed Martin, Mike also participated in a rotational program, gaining experience in mechanical drafting and design, structural analysis, and software. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Mike was an intern in the Research and Development group at Caterpillar, Inc.
