We represent a juvenile in removal proceedings in Immigration Court referred by the National Center for Refugees. Our client is a juvenile who entered the United States illegally when he was 15 years old and he was detained shortly after crossing the border. He had been abandoned by his parents when he was twelve and had been living with his grandmother who was sick and unable to work. The juvenile left El Salvador to live with his aunt in California. Dorsey obtained Special Immigrant Juvenile status to allow him to stay in the United States as a permanent resident alien. The California Probate Court granted him a petition to appoint the aunt as legal guardian in March of 2009, paving the way for us to petition for a change of immigration status which was approved on August 10, 2010.
