Mr. Peterson is a partner in the Corporate group and head of the Dorsey Vancouver office. Mr. Peterson's practice focuses on international financings, Canadian-U.S. corporate and commercial transactions, and Canadian technology company investment and business activities in the U.S. He is experienced in aircraft project and asset financing, syndicated euro-currency loans, and cross-border and leveraged equipment leases.
Mr. Peterson has been repeatedly listed in The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers.
Mr. Peterson’s clients include many of the leading technology companies in British Columbia, some of the largest industrial companies in Canada, and many foreign airlines. Mr. Peterson is a leader in the local business community, currently serving on the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada and previously serving as Chair of the Vancouver Enterprise Forum. As a U.S. lawyer in Canada, Mr. Peterson confines his practice to U.S. law.
Before moving to Canada in 1994 Mr. Peterson worked in London, England with Allen & Overy for five years and qualified as an English Solicitor. In London, Mr. Peterson's practice included a U.S. $2 billion financing of a liquefied natural gas project in Qatar and the first public debt securitization of a portfolio of leased aircraft, both transactions being named a "Deal of the Year."
Mr. Peterson's practice has involved aviation finance for over 30 years. Mr. Peterson’s aviation practice started when he worked as an attorney with The Boeing Company in Seattle. Today Mr. Peterson routinely represents airlines and banks buying and financing Boeing aircraft with his aviation practice focusing on Washington state legal issues arising in relation to Boeing’s purchase agreement. A recognized aviation law specialist, Mr. Peterson served two years as Chair of the Aviation Law Committee of the International Bar Association (2005-2006).
