The Latin American Practice Group is comprised of lawyers from Dorsey’s various practice groups who have experience on matters relating to Latin America or the Iberian Peninsula.  With more than 65 such lawyers, our experience in the region spans the breadth of corporate finance, trade, intellectual property, arbitration and litigation matters and encompasses almost every country in the region. 

We serve a diverse client base, from emerging companies establishing distribution channels in Latin America to international consortia financing multi-billion dollar infrastructure, energy and communication projects.  We also represent private equity firms investing in Latin America and sovereign governments and corporations in international trade matters, such as disputes involving NAFTA or the WTO.  Our clients are both local and international, representing a broad cross-section of industry.

Our lawyers’ collective experience is the result of years of assisting Latin American clients, visiting the region and establishing close relationships with local business people, government leaders and counsel.  Many of our lawyers are also fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese, with many having been born or raised in the region.  Our lawyers are also active as officers and members of regional organizations, such as the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce.
