Ken Jorgensen is a Partner in the Minneapolis Trial Group and serves as the firm's Ethics Partner and Chair of the Professional Responsibility Committee. He counsels and advises the firm’s lawyers in all of Dorsey’s 19 offices regarding ethics and risk management issues. He also advises and represents law firms and lawyers in the areas of Professional Responsibility, Risk Management, Loss Prevention and Lawyer Discipline Proceedings.
Prior to coming to Dorsey, Ken was a Minnesota State District Court Judge in Washington County from 2005 to 2009 presiding over civil, criminal, juvenile, family and probate cases.
From 2002 to 2005, he served as the Director of the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility and the Client Security Board. Prior to becoming Director, he had served with the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility for over twenty years, where he investigated and prosecuted thousands of ethics complaints, handled numerous trials and Supreme Court Appellate arguments, created the office’s telephone advisory opinion service to provide ethics advice to judges and lawyers, created a publication distributed by the office to assist lawyers in maintaining required client trust account records, and lectured and wrote extensively on the subject of Professional Responsibility and Legal Ethics.
Ken has been an adjunct faculty member at William Mitchell Law School teaching Professional Responsibility and Legal Practicum since 1991. He has also served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Minnesota and Hamline Law Schools. In addition, he is a frequent CLE lecturer on Professional Responsibility and Legal Ethics.
