Dorsey Provides Legal Counsel for Innovative Mixed Use Transit Hub in La Crosse, Wisconsin
MINNEAPOLIS – (February 8, 2010) – International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced that it has provided the legal counsel supporting the development of a mixed-use transit oriented development in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The development, called Grand River Station, offers a central hub for the City’s transit service, residential, service oriented retail, and parking facilities integrated into the city’s bus transit hub. Working with the city of La Crosse and design firm LSA Design, Dorsey provided advice on the funding, structure, and real estate transactions for the project.
“Grand River Station is a remarkable public-private partnership, as it brings together varied funding sources to create a truly unique development that will serve as one of the anchors of downtown La Crosse for many years to come”, noted Jay Lindgren, Dorsey Partner and head of the firm’s Infrastructure industry group. “Mixed use projects like this are not closing very often in today’s economy. But by assembling federal, state, and local funds, we were able to attract a private development partner to build out the project. I’m not aware of another development in the country to assemble the same type of public and private funding sources.”
“We are very proud of Grand River Station as it represents the result of many groups working together constructively to create a truly game-changing development in the middle of downtown, said Jim Lasher of LSA Design.. “The people of La Crosse will be able to enjoy it while it serves as a focal point for other redevelopment in the area.”
