International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Cassandra Headrick, a Partner in the Firm’s Minneapolis office has been selected for the 2012 Fellows Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), a national organization comprised of general counsels at leading businesses and other organizations as well as managing partners of major law firms.
Ms. Headrick joins a class of 134 attorneys from around the country selected as LCLD Fellows for 2012. Dorsey Partner Taiesha McBroom was named a LCLD Fellow in 2011.
Formed in 2009, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) is made up of the general counsels of the nation’s preeminent corporations and of the managing partners of the nation’s leading law firms. LCLD’s Fellowship program was developed under the leadership of LCLD Talent Development Committee Chair Greg Jordan, Managing Partner of ReedSmith, and Committee Vice Chair Geoff Kelly, former General Counsel for Coca-Cola.
The Fellows Program is one of several initiatives launched by LCLD since the organization’s creation in 2009. LCLD has also developed programs to encourage minorities and women to enter the law and to increase their likelihood of success in law school and beyond. LCLD has introduced “diversity secondments” which allow talented, diverse attorneys in law firms to work in corporate legal environments, broadening both their base of knowledge and their professional relationships.
