Jessica is an Associate in the Benefits and Compensation practice group. Although she has experience with retirement plans, Jessica practices primarily in the area of health and welfare plans including health plans, dental plans, flexible benefit plans, disability plans, life insurance plans, fringe benefit plans and severance plans. Jessica assists employers with compliance with ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, HIPAA, COBRA, USERRA, Medicare Part D, Medicare Secondary Payer rules, and GINA.

Representative Work

Advise employers regarding the implications of health care reform on their health plans and prepare plan amendments and employee communications.
Draft plan documents, plan amendments, trust agreements, summary plan descriptions and employee communications.
Review and negotiate third-party administrative services agreements and insurance contracts.
Advise employers on all aspects of HIPAA privacy and security compliance. Draft business associate agreements, privacy notices, policies and procedures and plan amendments.
Conduct employee-training sessions on HIPAA privacy and security compliance.
Assist employers with designing consumer driven health care programs and integration with flexible benefit plans.
Advise employers on benefits matters in connection with mergers and acquisitions.
Assist employers with responding to benefit claims.
