Dorsey partner Nick Akerman and associate Joe Perkovich have updated their respective chapters for the second edition of "eDiscovery for Corporate Counsel," Thomson West’s treatise for in-house and outside counsel. The work contains contributions from leading practitioners, corporate counsel, and service providers and, in a single volume, provides a comprehensive resource for the key elements of this important and fast changing area of practice. In addition to the hard copy volume, the treatise also can be found online as a Westlaw database (“EDISCCORP”).
Five leading federal magistrate judges contributed to the foreword, imparting their wealth of experience in managing the ESI discovery process and adjudicating related disputes. Dorsey is the only firm to have contributed two chapters to this work, which includes contributions from, among others, partners at Wachtell Lipton; Paul, Weiss; Wilmer Cutler; Patterson, Belknap; and Cadwalader.
Akerman introduced the entire field with the volume’s premier chapter (co-written with Angeline Chen, Assistant General Counsel for Lockheed Martin Corp.), titled "What is Electronic Evidence?" Perkovich is the author of "The International Aspect of ESI Production," which treats complex international jurisdiction issues often critical in litigation involving multinational enterprises. This chapter provided the single subject of the panel discussion at the Penn Club (New York City) held in September 2008 to celebrate the publication of the first edition of the treatise.
