Pro Bono has always been a hallmark of Dorsey. We believe that pro bono efforts energize our lawyers and staff, form closer ties to our communities, and develop the skills and pride of our attorneys and staff.

In 1993, we took the ABA Pro Bono Challenge as a charter signatory.  We are proud to have met the Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge every year by contributing more than three percent of our hours to serving people who need legal advice but are unable to afford it.

For 25 years, our Minneapolis office has provided trial associates to the city attorney’s office as "temporary prosecutors" in the criminal division. Through this program, the city receives much needed assistance in prosecuting misdemeanor cases and our associates receive three months of concentrated court-room experience that would take years to replicate in the course of normal, big-firm practice. Our associates repeatedly tell us that this is some of the best experience they get trying cases before a jury, handling evidentiary hearings, getting exposure to local judges, and thinking on their feet.

Our firm and our attorneys have been honored to receive numerous awards in recognition of our dedication to pro bono work.  For more information on these awards, our pro bono practice, and other pro bono news, please click here
